Carlos Sainz was discreet in the Sprint race of the São Paulo Grand Prix of Formula 1. Starting from ninth, he managed to finish eighth, saving a point… for which he had to fight hard, with the pressure from Daniel Ricciardo (AlphaTauri) until very close to the end.
The Madrid native from Ferrari explained that he had to do a lot of management in driving early on due to the engine and tires, which affected his performance. Nevertheless, he ensured greater optimism for the main race this Sunday:
“We suffered more than expected in the Sprint. Our main limitation came from having to manage the engine and tire temperatures. This involved a lot of ‘lift and coast’ early on in the race, which obviously affected our overall performance. However, I am confident that the main race will be better and that we will be able to push the car and tires more to recover some positions.”
