Lucid Motors has announced a strategic change in leadership by appointing Silvio Napoli as the new CEO, at a critical time for the future of the luxury electric vehicle brand.
New leader with global industry experience
Silvio Napoli joins Lucid after leading the Swiss group Schindler, which specializes in elevators and urban mobility solutions. Although outside the automotive sector, the executive brings decades of experience in managing global operations, cost optimization, and business expansion.
The company highlights his ability to scale organizations and implement technology and service-oriented models as key factors for this choice.
Leadership transition
With this appointment, Marc Winterhoff steps down from the interim CEO position and returns to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), ensuring continuity in internal management.
A critical moment for Lucid
The change comes at a decisive phase for Lucid Motors, which is seeking to improve its profitability and increase production volumes.
The brand has faced typical challenges of electric vehicle startups, including difficulties in converting production into deliveries and pressure on demand.
New generation of more affordable models
The strategy of Lucid now involves expanding the range with more affordable models, capable of reaching a broader audience.
The first will be the Lucid Cosmos, a mid-size SUV expected to be unveiled in the summer, with a price below $50,000.
This model will debut a new powertrain platform called “Atlas,” which is lighter and less complex.
Common platform for expansion
After the Cosmos, Lucid plans to launch:
- the Earth model
- an off-road variant
These vehicles will share about 95% of the components, allowing for significant gains in production efficiency and cost reduction.
Focus on profitability and growth
The choice of Napoli reflects the need for leadership oriented towards financial discipline and operational execution, at a time when Lucid needs to translate innovation into consistent commercial results.
A new chapter for the brand
With new leadership and an expanding range, Lucid enters a decisive phase, where success will depend on the ability to compete in an increasingly demanding and saturated market.
