Rede de carregamentos elétricos Mobi.E continua a crescer

The sales of 100% electric cars continue to grow in Portugal and in 2023 alone, 36,331 passenger cars were sold, which continues to contribute to new records of the public charging network, Mobi.E.

According to the data revealed by the company, in 2023 there were more than 3.7 million electric vehicle charges, representing a 68% increase compared to the data recorded in 2022.

Energy consumption, compared to the same period last year, increased by 95%, reaching about 71,500 MWh. The number of users also grew by 69%, with a total of 174,500 users charging their vehicle at least once at one of the network’s points during last year.

“In 2023, the public access charging infrastructure continued to grow at an accelerated pace, with an average of 25 stations installed per week, increasing by about 1,300 stations. At the end of the year, the Mobi.E network had about 4,450 charging stations and more than 7,800 public access charging points,” the company adds in a statement.

In terms of available power, the charging network has about 248,000 kW, “about 13% above what is imposed by the European Regulation.”

Currently, 37% of the Mobi.E public access network consists of fast or ultra-fast charging stations, i.e., with powers above 22 kW.

It is also worth noting the significant increase in private access stations connected to the Mobi.E network, called Charging Point Holders (DPC), which more than doubled (+110%) throughout the year, surpassing 1,700 by the end of 2023, demonstrating that this is increasingly a good solution for residential and business charging.

“Electric mobility in Portugal has been growing exponentially, as these results demonstrate. The numbers illustrate our ability to respond to an increasingly significant increase in demand and adoption of this form of sustainable mobility. The investment that will be made in the Mobi.E network over the next few years will allow for an increasingly reinforced reach of the charging network,” said Luís Barroso, president of Mobi.E.
