Radares de Lisboa rendem cerca de €10 milhões em dois anos

The speed control radars in the city of Lisbon have recorded over 500,000 infractions in the last two years, resulting in fines of around €10 million.

According to the municipality, between June 1, 2022, and April 30 of this year, “548,880 infractions were detected in fixed radars”.

During the same period, and according to the data provided to “Lusa“, as cited by “DN“, the radar that detected the most infractions is located on Avenida Lusíada (west-east direction), near Hospital dos Lusíadas, where 80,534 infractions were recorded, followed by the one on Avenida Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (east-west direction), in front of Centro Comercial Fonte Nova, with 63,937.

Also noteworthy are the radars located on Avenidas Padre Cruz, Brasília, and Infante Dom Henrique, which are also on the list of the top 10 locations with the most detected infractions.

Regarding the amount collected from fines already processed, the Lisbon City Council collected nearly €10 million (€9,827), while the Tax Authority received close to €6.3 million and the National Road Safety Authority around €1.8 million.

The 41 fixed speed control radars in Lisbon started operating on June 1, 2022, with “more advanced technology” that allows monitoring of multiple lanes.

Remember that fines for speeding can range from €60 to €2500, depending on the severity of the offense, including whether it occurs inside or outside urban areas.
