The contract of Yuki Tsunoda with RB will come to an end at the end of this season. The RB driver is being considered for a position at the Alpine F1 team in 2025, following the unexpected departure of Esteban Ocon from the team. Ocon recently announced he would be leaving the Enstone-based team after the current season.
During the Monaco Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon was involved in a controversial accident, where he made an unnecessary attempt to overtake his teammate on the first lap. This move almost jeopardized Pierre Gasly’s position, as Ocon had to retire from the race after the incident.
Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda has been facing criticism from Red Bull, despite outperforming his teammate in the VCARB this season. The talented Japanese driver has attracted interest from several teams, including Alpine, for the 2025 season.
Reports suggest that Red Bull is not considering Yuki Tsunoda for a seat in 2025, leaving the 24-year-old driver without a team as his contract expires at the end of the current season. Tsunoda will strive to showcase his skills in order to secure offers from teams like Williams, Haas, and Alpine for the upcoming season.
Although Tsunoda has had a decent season so far, there have been concerns about his performance in Red Bull’s sister team. The eight-time race winner has only accumulated five points this season.
Daniel Ricciardo joined AlphaTauri (VCARB) midway through the 2023 season and competed for the team this year. However, as mentioned earlier, Tsunoda has significantly outperformed the 34-year-old Australian driver, raising doubts about his future with the team.
Ricciardo praised the hard work of the team based in Faenza and promised to give his best in the remaining races of the season. However, he faces strong competition from ambitious young talents who are eager for an opportunity to prove their worth.
