Although there are subtle differences between the Gen2 and Gen3 springs, there is no performance advantage in using the old spring. Porsche and the FIA have had previous conflicts, which further escalated the current situation. Porsche is considering filing an official appeal against the disqualification, but regardless of any performance advantage, the use of the old spring is not allowed according to the International Sporting Code. Previous incidents in Formula E have resulted in both disqualifications and fines, raising questions about the severity of da Costa’s penalty. The outcome of a possible legal challenge and the long-term implications for Porsche in Formula E remain uncertain.
