Home driver Lance Stroll showed renewed pace for Aston Martin, qualifying ninth overall.
Alex Albon encountered a setback with a cross-threaded wheel nut in Q2. However, he managed to get out late in the session and secured the sixth fastest time. He ended up completing the top 10.
Williams’ Logan Sargeant showed promising signs of pace in Q2, but fell behind the Ferraris, finishing in 13th place. However, it was his best qualifying performance of the season so far. He outperformed Haas’ Kevin Magnussen and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in the second segment of qualifying.
Valtteri Bottas suffered his third consecutive elimination in Q1, finishing in 17th place. Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon, who received a five-place grid penalty in Monaco, will start at the back of the pack for Alpine, despite finishing 18th in Q1. As a result, Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu will move up to 19th place, with Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg securing 18th place.
