Oscar Piastri from Australia, driving the McLaren MCL38, Daniel Ricciardo from Australia, driving the RB VCARB 01, and Lance Stroll from Canada, driving for the Aston Martin F1 Team AMR24, collided at the hairpin turn during the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai on April 21, 2024. Ricciardo, a Formula 1 driver for RB, criticized Stroll for the incident, stating that his opponent’s judgment was completely wrong. During the weekend, Ricciardo was outperforming his teammate Yuki Tsunoda and was in ninth place when the race was about to restart after a Safety Car period. However, as the cars approached turn 14, Stroll rear-ended Ricciardo’s car and caused significant damage to the floor. This collision resulted in Ricciardo dropping back in the pack before eventually retiring from the race. Stroll received a 10-second penalty for causing the accident. Ricciardo expressed his frustration with Stroll for ruining his chances of scoring valuable points and questioned why Stroll was not focused on the cars ahead.
