Ian James, from the Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3, together with his teammates Daniel Mancinelli and Alex Riberas, shared their opinions on the challenges they face in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans. According to Riberas, this year’s increased difficulty is due to GT3 cars braking later in each braking zone compared to previous years. This is because they are slower in terms of top speed compared to GTE cars, but have the advantage of ABS. Riberas believes that this phenomenon of late braking creates traffic management problems, especially when Hypercars and LMP2 cars are overtaking them. He emphasizes the importance of clear communication and smart decision-making to avoid incidents during the race. Riberas also mentions the new energy management rule and suggests that lifting off the accelerator and coasting earlier to save energy can be a useful strategy. However, he acknowledges that implementing this strategy can be challenging when there are multiple cars behind them trying to overtake.
