Peugeot aims to position itself at the top of the table of manufacturers that sell the most electric cars in Europe by 2025, which presupposes both massive investment in technology and a greater number of products in the catalog. And the lion brand, at this moment, fulfills a new step in this action plan, with the launch of the new e-208 and the first versions of the 308 without internal combustion engines – and batteries instead of fuel tanks. AutoGear drove them in the Barcelona region, in Catalonia, Spain.
The e-208 is scheduled to premiere in Portugal next month, with the new propulsion system, which has an electric motor of 115 kW/156 hp powered by a 51 kWh capacity battery. According to Peugeot, in the WLTP homologation cycle, this utility vehicle, available from €33,000, can travel up to 410 km between charges, which greatly exceeds the claimed 362 km for the homonymous version with 136 hp, which remains in the catalog but has an update scheduled only for March, as do the MHEV (48 Volt) versions of the 100 hp and 130 hp PureTech gasoline engines.
At the launch of the new edition of the best-selling B-segment sedan in Portugal (and globally, in terms of license plates in our country, only the… 2008 beats it!), in addition to the 156 hp e-208, the atmospheric PureTech version with 75 hp is available, starting at €19,200. Focusing on the e-208, the battery adds a lot of kilograms to the car, but it does so without penalizing the dynamics… On the contrary, by having a lower center of gravity and optimized weight distribution between the axles, the driving progresses in agility and stability. Peugeot claims a top speed of 150 km/h and 8.2 seconds in the 0-100 km/h, with the Sport mode activated in a driving mode selector with two more positions: Eco and Normal.
I lanci dell’e-308 e dell’e-308 SW sono ancora più rilevanti, in quanto rappresentano le prime auto familiari compatte elettriche di Peugeot. Ciò significa che il marchio entra nella classe numero uno nelle vendite, il che teoricamente permette di attaccare la leadership di Tesla in questa tecnologia. In Portogallo, la berlina è in vendita a partire da €42 000, e la station wagon a partire da €43 125. In entrambi i modelli, batterie con una capacità di 54 kWh, che permettono di percorrere fino a 415 km e 409 km tra una ricarica e l’altra, rispettivamente, secondo l’omologazione WLTP.
Il sistema è lo stesso dell’e-208, e le caratteristiche di guida sono simili, anche se l’e-308 e l’e-308 SW hanno qualità migliori in termini di comfort e scorrevolezza, pur presentando una sospensione con ammortizzamento rigido per un controllo ottimizzato dei movimenti della carrozzeria. In queste nuove Peugeot, come nella maggior parte delle auto elettriche, grazie alla scarica immediata della coppia massima, si ha una risposta istantanea all’acceleratore.
No e-308 e no e-308 SW, la velocità massima è limitata a 180 km/h, e il tempo per raggiungere i 0-100 km/h è di 9,8 secondi. Durante il lancio, viene offerta una easyWallbox e una garanzia di 4 anni o 50.000 km, che viene estesa a 8 anni/160.000 km per la batteria. Nel 2024, arriveranno le versioni e-3008, e-408 ed e-5008.
