Valtteri Bottas, from Finland, piloted the Sauber C44 car during the Formula 1 World Championship, Stage 3, Australian Grand Prix, held at Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia, on March 22, 2024. This was the practice day for the event.
The second practice session on Friday of Formula 1 ended with Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari, recording the fastest time, with a time of 1:17.277.
The top three positions were occupied by Ferrari, Red Bull, and Ferrari, with Max Verstappen securing the second best time, 0.381 seconds behind, and Carlos Sainz finishing third, 0.430 seconds behind.
Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, from Aston Martin, respectively secured the fourth and fifth positions, with Stroll being the favorite Canadian driver.
George Russell, representing Mercedes, reached the sixth position, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton struggled and finished in 18th place.
Oscar Piastri, the local hero, secured the seventh best time for McLaren, followed by Sergio Perez, Lando Norris, and Yuki Tsunoda, from Red Bull, who completed the top-10.
Due to the damage suffered in his FW46 car during the first practice session (FP1), Alex Albon, from Williams, did not participate in the second practice session (FP2).
