Tesla delivered 386,810 cars in the first quarter, representing an 8.5% drop compared to the same period in 2023 and the lowest value since the third quarter of 2022.
According to data revealed by Elon Musk’s company, in the first three months, Tesla produced 433,371 vehicles and delivered 386,810, which the company attributes to « the initial phase of the production ramp of the updated Model 3 » at the Fremont factory and to « factory closures due to shipping disruptions caused by the conflict in the Red Sea » and sabotage of an electrical infrastructure in Berlin.
The number of deliveries is the lowest since the 435,059 recorded in the third quarter of 2022. Tesla also reported that in the first quarter it produced 433,371 vehicles, of which 412,376 were Model 3 and Model Y.
The company did not detail how many Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck vehicles were produced. In the same period of 2023, the company manufactured a total of 440,808 units.
It is worth noting that in the last quarter of last year, the Chinese company BYD surpassed Tesla as the top seller of electric cars.
