Article 63: Lamborghini Iron Lynx, Lamborghini SC63, GTP: Romain Grosjean, Andrea Caldarelli, Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat
Romain Grosjean, a professional driver for Lamborghini, informed journalists that the Lamborghini IMSA team is facing some setbacks due to the lack of testing before the start of the season. During the opening of the Indycar season in St Petersburg, Florida, where he was racing for his new team, Juncos Hollinger Racing, Grosjean shared his thoughts on the Lamborghini IMSA program. When asked about his feelings regarding the program, he replied: « It’s going very well. » However, he acknowledged that they are a bit behind due to limited testing opportunities. Despite this, Grosjean remains optimistic about the project’s potential and progress. He mentioned that the upcoming race in Sebring may pose some challenges, as it will be their first race in IMSA, and Sebring is a challenging track.
Grosjean, along with his Lamborghini teammates Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli, will compete against other GTP competitors in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship at Sebring. Notable opponents include Cadillac’s Action Express and Chip Ganassi teams, Acura’s Wayne Taylor Racing program with Andretti, Porsche Penske team, and BMW Team RLL.
Lamborghini already made its debut in the 1812km race of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Qatar earlier this month. The team, composed of Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat, and Edo Mortara, finished 14th in their class. However, Sebring will present a different challenge. Unlike the Losail International Circuit in Qatar, which has a smooth track surface, Sebring is known for its bumpy track caused by concrete slabs that have shifted over the years.
