Sebastien Bourdais, a sports contributor from Le Mans, expressed his satisfaction with his performance during the Hyperpole session. He stated that his lap was solid and he was happy with where they ended up. Despite the car not feeling good for most of the test, he had an exceptional performance during qualifying. Bourdais mentioned that he didn’t encounter any traffic and went through the first preparation lap knowing it wouldn’t count. He was initially skeptical about having only one lap, thinking it would be difficult to warm up the tires. However, he was thrilled that they were able to secure a good position on the grid and praised Cadillac for their performance. Bourdais concluded by saying that they can now focus on the race.
The #2 Cadillac received a five-position penalty on the grid due to Earl Bamber’s accident in the previous round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. As a result, the #3 team, composed of Bourdais, Renger van der Zande, and Scott Dixon, will start on the front row in second place. Both the #2 and #3 Cadillacs showed their strength during the Hyperpole session, with Bourdais setting a strong benchmark for provisional pole. However, due to a lack of fuel, he couldn’t continue and was overtaken by other drivers. Despite this, Cadillac will start the main race in the seventh position among a record 23 Hypercar participants on the weekend of June 15-16.
