Oliver Bearman, the test driver for the Haas VF-24, exited the pit lane during the Free Practice Day of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, on May 17, 2024. In the free practice session under sunny conditions, Charles Leclerc set the fastest lap with a time of 1:16.990s, surpassing George Russell and his Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz.
Russell was just over a tenth of a second behind Leclerc’s time, while Sainz was 0.130s behind. The Red Bulls of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Verstappen struggled throughout the session and finished a quarter of a second behind Leclerc.
Yuki Tsunoda impressed with a sixth place for RB, followed by Lewis Hamilton in seventh. Lando Norris, the winner of the Miami Grand Prix, secured the eighth fastest time, ahead of his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri. Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin closed the top ten.
