Siegel, a young pilot from California, has been given control of the #6 car from Arrow McLaren for the remaining races of the 2024 IndyCar season. He will begin his journey with this weekend’s race at Laguna Seca and has signed a multi-year contract with the team. Siegel has already replaced Agustin Canapino at Juncos Hollinger Racing during the Road America weekend, sacrificing his participation in IndyNXT. Now, he will leave the junior series to focus on his responsibilities in the main series.
This decision to promote Siegel comes at the expense of Theo Pourchaire, who had been driving for Arrow McLaren in five races this season and was expected to continue for the rest of the year. Team boss Gavin Ward emphasized the importance of stability and growth in their long-term plans, and bringing in Siegel allows them to establish a foundation for the future. Ward praised Siegel’s talent and experience, highlighting the excitement of continuing this journey together.
The #6 car has undergone changes throughout the season, starting with David Malukas’ injury before the start of the season. Callum Ilott and Pourchaire had the opportunity to drive the car in some races. Before the Indianapolis 500, it was announced that Pourchaire would stay in the car for the remainder of the season. However, the situation changed, and Pourchaire is no longer part of the team, making way for Siegel’s immediate entry.
Siegel expressed enthusiasm for joining the Arrow McLaren team and securing his place in the NTT IndyCar Series. He acknowledged the unexpected nature of the opportunity but expressed gratitude for his time in the Indy NXT by Firestone with HMD Motorsports. Siegel is eager to embark on this new journey and learn alongside the entire team, starting with the next race in his home state.
