Perez’s prospects were further damaged when he went off track and into the gravel trap at Rivazza 1 on lap 18. He believes this incident caused damage to his car and cost him about six to seven seconds. As a result, he found himself under pressure from the drivers behind him.
Despite the challenges he faced, Perez believes his performance in this race was the best he could have achieved given the circumstances. He took a risk with his strategy, hoping for a Safety Car period that would benefit him. However, he acknowledges that going off track was a mistake that compromised his race.
Perez is confident that his tough outing in this race is not indicative of his overall performance. He believes it was an isolated incident and hopes to bounce back in the next race in Monaco.
