Peugeot aims to position itself at the top of the table of manufacturers that sell the most electric cars in Europe by 2025, which presupposes both massive investment in technology and a greater number of products in the catalog. And the brand of the lion, at this moment, fulfills a new stage of this action plan, with the launches of the new e-208, and the first versions of the 308 without internal combustion engines – and batteries instead of fuel tanks. AutoGear drove them in the region of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain.
The e-208 is scheduled to debut in Portugal next month, with the new propulsion system, which has an electric motor of 115 kW/156 hp powered by a 51 kWh capacity battery. According to Peugeot, in the WLTP homologation cycle, this utility vehicle, available from €33,000, can travel up to 410 km between charges, which greatly exceeds the 362 km claimed for the homonymous version with 136 hp, which remains in the catalog, but has an update scheduled only for March, as do the MHEV (48 Volt) versions of the 100 hp and 130 hp PureTech gasoline engines.
At the launch of the new edition of the best-selling B-segment sedan in Portugal (and globally, in terms of license plates in our country, only the… 2008 beats it!), in addition to the e-208 with 156 hp, the atmospheric PureTech version with 75 hp is available, starting at €19,200. Focusing on the e-208, the battery adds a lot of kilograms to the car, but does so without penalizing the dynamics… On the contrary, by having a lower center of gravity and optimized weight distribution between the axles, the driving progresses in agility and stability. Peugeot claims a top speed of 150 km/h and 8.2 seconds in the 0-100 km/h, with the Sport mode activated in a driving mode selector with two more positions: Eco and Normal.
Los lanzamientos del e-308 y del e-308 SW son aún más relevantes, ya que representan los primeros familiares compactos eléctricos de Peugeot. Esto significa que la marca entra en la clase número uno en ventas, lo que teóricamente le permite desafiar el liderazgo de Tesla en esta tecnología. En Portugal, la berlina se vende a partir de €42,000, y la camioneta desde €43,125. En ambos modelos, las baterías tienen una capacidad de 54 kWh, lo que permite recorrer hasta 415 km y 409 km respectivamente entre recargas, según la homologación WLTP.
El sistema es el mismo que el del e-208, y las características de conducción también son similares, aunque el e-308 y el e-308 W tienen mejores cualidades en cuanto a confort y suavidad de marcha, incluso presentando una suspensión con amortiguación firme para un control optimizado de los movimientos de la carrocería. En estos nuevos Peugeot, como ocurre en la mayoría de los eléctricos, debido a la descarga inmediata del par máximo, hay una respuesta instantánea al acelerador.
No e-308 y e-308 SW, la velocidad máxima está limitada a 180 km/h y el 0-100 km/h se completa en 9,8 segundos. En la fase de lanzamiento, se ofrece un easyWallbox y una garantía y mantenimiento de 4 años o 50,000 km, que se amplía a 8 años/160,000 km en el caso de la batería. En 2024, llegarán los e-3008, e-408 y e-5008.
