Mick Schumacher may have run out of place in Formula 1 in 2023 and 2024, eventually joining the Alpine LM Hypercar team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). However, he has not completely given up on the dream of succeeding in the premier category, believing that a comeback may still be possible next year.
The German stated to Sport Bild: ‘It may work in my favor that the driver market is already very active and will continue to escalate in the coming months. A lot will happen in this area. And not only will there be changes in the cockpits, but one or two drivers may also end their careers’.
On the other hand, Schumacher believes that there are not many drivers ready to make the leap: ‘There is currently no talent emerging from the junior categories. Although it is clear that I will not have anything for free. I have to perform’.
For the former Haas driver, his merit has been demonstrated: ‘I know I have the abilities for this. I am good enough. I showed that in Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2. The fact that I won races and championships is quickly forgotten. But I showed that I can also handle the pressure in those classes. And Formula 1 is not that different’.
