Lando Norris, a British pilot from McLaren, made a pit stop during the Formula 1 World Championship race in Montreal, Canada. McLaren revealed that a mistake was made by making Norris’ pit stop one lap too late due to the position on the track and the weather conditions. Norris had done well in preserving his intermediate tires in the beginning and had taken the lead, but a Logan Sargeant accident caused the entry of the Safety Car, causing Norris to drop to third position. McLaren’s team manager, Stella, explained that Norris was on the pit straight when the safety car entered the track, leading to a last-minute decision on the pit wall that turned out to be wrong. Stella mentioned that they could have instructed Norris to stop in case of a Safety Car, but they didn’t. The team also debated whether they should change to new intermediate tires due to the possibility of another rain, but ended up deciding against it. Norris ended up finishing in second place, behind Max Verstappen.
