Kyle Busch could be on the verge of another disappointing finish in the Cup race on Sunday. During practice session, Busch was involved in an accident and could not participate in the qualifying session. As a result, he will start the race in 35th position, alongside another driver who also crashed during practice. Discussing what awaits him on Sunday, the two-time Cup champion acknowledged that it will be challenging to move forward on the track due to the passing difficulties at TMS.
Busch’s track record at Texas is impressive, with four career victories. However, he has faced difficulties in the Next-Gen era, competing in only three races since 2022 and achieving a best finish of 21st place, which occurred in a race where he started on pole position. The accident in the practice session may be indicative of the current trend in his performance.
Chevy’s number 8 team provided Busch with a fast car for the weekend, but he faced significant balance issues. After a few quick laps, the Chevy became tight, causing Busch to hit the wall. As a result, the team will use the backup car in Sunday’s race.
The 2024 season has been a nightmare for Richard Childress Racing so far. The team has been uncompetitive in all races and their pit stop execution has been disappointing. RCR is desperately in need of a shining moment from their drivers or engineers to identify and solve the issues plaguing the team.
