Fisker Automotive, a North American company known for its plug-in hybrid model Karma, filed for bankruptcy in 2013, making it easier for Wanxiang Group, a Chinese investment group, to acquire it. Wanxiang Group bought assets that included projects, plug-in hybrid powertrain, and a factory in Wilmington, Delaware. Since then, the company has been struggling to stay relevant in the luxury car segment, but only now has it launched its most ambitious plan ever, under the leadership of the new CEO, Marques McCammon, former General Motors executive, and with an entirely new design team led by Michelle Christensen, the woman behind the aesthetics of the Acura NSX.
The relaunch program of Karma Automotive officially started this weekend in Las Vegas with the presentation of an updated version of its electric Revero with extended range, and the spectacular Kaveya, an elegant coupe measuring 4,768 mm in length, 45 mm longer than the Aston Martin DB12. Among the most special elements of its stylish bodywork are the retractable headlights and vertical-opening doors that provide access to the very futuristic-style cockpit.
