Oliver Goethe, a pilot from Campos Racing from Germany, achieved victory in the Sprint Race of the FIA Formula 3 Championship held in Imola, Italy, on May 18, 2024.
Initially, Goethe was penalized by the FIA for allegedly violating Article 40.7 of the FIA Formula 3 regulations, which relates to a possible breach of safety car protocols.
After a careful analysis of the available data, the Stewards concluded that the penalty imposed on Goethe during the race was unjustified. This decision was based on the fact that the timing matrix did not accurately reflect the changes made to Article 40.7 of the 2024 Sporting Regulations at the beginning of the season. Consequently, the penalty was deemed incorrect, resulting in Goethe’s reinstatement as the race winner, reclaiming his position at the top of the podium.
