Ford was highlighted in the 2023 edition of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the United States, a race with a lot of history for the American brand, which has been participating in the event since the first edition in 1916, with a Ford Model T.
This year, Ford brought the SuperVan 4.2 to the «race to the clouds,» developed by Stohl Advanced Research and Development (STARD), with three electric motors, one motor installed on the front axle and two on the rear axle, delivering 1,400 hp of power.
The three electric motors are powered by a set of Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells from STARD. In addition, the energy regeneration power is 600 kW.
The Ford SuperVan has also been improved in terms of ground clearance, brakes, and suspension to face this challenge.
With Romain Dumas behind the wheel of the SuperVan 4.2, Ford achieved a new record time in the Open Division, with 8m47.682 seconds to cover the 20 km of winding mountain roads.
