Aleix Espargaro does not expect to continue with the Aprilia MotoGP team after retiring from full-time competition at the end of the year. He has expressed interest in becoming a test rider and leading the development work for a manufacturer for the MotoGP switch to 850cc bikes in 2027. Despite this, Espargaro has expressed his gratitude to Aprilia and his intention to make the most of every lap until his retirement.
Aprilia already has a test rider, Lorenzo Savadori, who has been an integral part of the team’s development. However, Espargaro may feel that continuing with Aprilia is unlikely due to the interest he has received from other MotoGP manufacturers. His impressive track record and development skills make him an attractive option for rival team testing programs. Espargaro has hinted that he has had discussions with several manufacturers, including KTM. Although it is not clear where he will go, it is likely that Espargaro will accept an offer from a rival team. There are several potential options for him, including Ducati, BMW, and Japanese manufacturers such as Yamaha and Honda.
