Zeekr, the Chinese brand of the Geely group, which has been fully electric so far, will strengthen its strategy by launching plug-in hybrid models in 2025.
The confirmation was made by Geely group president, Andy Na, during a meeting with journalists, where he announced that Zeekr will launch three new models in 2025, including two plug-in hybrids and a station wagon variant of the Zeekr 007.
The brand has already begun dynamic testing of the new variant of the 007, a model that in the sedan version is seen as Zeekr’s response to the Tesla Model 3 in China. The model features a 100 kWh NMC battery from CATL, which claims a range of 660 km in the CLTC cycle.
The battery powers two motors, one with 165 kW (224 hp) at the front and another with 310 kW (421 hp) at the rear, allowing for a total power of 636 hp and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.84 seconds.
Zeekr has not revealed many details about the new specifications of the plug-in hybrid powertrain that will be used in the two new models. However, Andy An disclosed that it is a Super Hybrid system, claiming that it will combine the advantages of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. “The new powertrain is designed for low energy consumption on the highway while providing a perfectly seamless all-electric driving experience.”, An stated.
According to information revealed by “CarnewsChina,” the Super Hybrid system will be a slightly enhanced variant of Geely’s latest EM-i Leishen plug-in hybrid system, with which the brand aims to compete with BYD’s DM-i hybrid system.
