Zak Brown, the dynamic CEO of McLaren, is revving up the excitement this summer break as he races into the spotlight—not in Formula 1, but in the thrilling world of historic motorsports! While F1 teams take a breather, Brown is tearing up the track at the renowned Monterey Motorsports Reunion held at the iconic Laguna Seca Raceway.

This annual gathering, a treasure trove for racing aficionados, features an array of vintage cars battling it out over a weekend in mid-August. Brown, a passionate collector of classic racing machines, showcased his prized possessions, including the legendary Porsche 935, which catapulted him to pole position for the coveted Peter Gregg Trophy.

“That’s POLE in the Porsche 935 for the Peter Gregg Trophy. Starting on the front row for tomorrow’s race, mega!” Brown exuberantly declared on social media, celebrating his triumph and gearing up for an exhilarating showdown. The 53-year-old racer didn’t just stop there; he also secured an impressive P5 in his 1989 Jaguar XJR-10 and P10 in his 1977 IROC Camaro, captivating fans with a dazzling carousel of images that showcased these automotive classics in action.

But the excitement doesn’t end with Brown’s personal collection. The Monterey Motorsports Reunion will also celebrate the illustrious 75-year history of Formula 1 with an impressive display of McLaren’s legendary cars. Fans can marvel at the 1974 McLaren M23/05, once piloted by the great Emerson Fittipaldi, the iconic 1984 McLaren MP4/2 driven by Niki Lauda, and the future-forward 2024 McLaren MCL38/02, currently in the capable hands of star driver Lando Norris.

All three historic machines are not just static displays; they will take to the track for exhilarating exhibition laps daily, allowing spectators to experience the roar of F1 history firsthand. Brown expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s fantastic to be back at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion; it’s one of my favorite events of the year, and it’s an honor to get behind the wheel of Lauda’s MP4/2, a car the team was so successful in. I’m looking forward to being part of the Formula 1 anniversary celebrations.”

As Brown embraces the thrill of classic racing, fans worldwide eagerly await the electrifying moments that this summer break will bring. With the engines roaring and the adrenaline pumping, the Monterey Motorsports Reunion promises to be an unforgettable celebration of racing heritage and the enduring legacy of McLaren in Formula 1. Buckle up—this is just the beginning!
