Yuki Tsunoda Faces Uphill Battle in Unlocking Red Bull’s Secrets After Challenging F1 Test
Rookie sensation Yuki Tsunoda continues to grapple with the complexities of the Red Bull Formula 1 car, despite his promising debut performances. The Japanese driver, who impressed by making it to Q3 in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, is still striving to unlock the full potential of the Red Bull RB21.
A recent test session at Silverstone in the RB19 was intended to provide Tsunoda with crucial insights ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, but inclement weather hampered his progress. Tsunoda expressed frustration, stating, “Unfortunately, we got a bit of an issue at the end of the day as well. So, in the end, we didn’t drive much, but still a cool experience.”
Despite his challenges, Tsunoda remains optimistic about his future with Red Bull. Team advisor Helmut Marko has praised his efforts, highlighting an improvement over his predecessor, Liam Lawson. Tsunoda’s ability to adapt quickly and score points early in his Red Bull career bodes well for his development in the team.
The young driver acknowledges the need for more time to adjust fully to the Red Bull car, especially in high-pressure situations like qualifying. Tsunoda emphasized the importance of finding more speed in Q3, a crucial area where he aims to make significant progress.
Marko echoed Tsunoda’s sentiment, noting that the driver tends to lose time to teammate Max Verstappen in qualifying. Tsunoda recognizes this as his primary area for improvement, stating, “It’s something I need to work on. If I can qualify higher, there’s a better chance to score points.”
As Tsunoda continues his journey with Red Bull, the focus remains on honing his skills and maximizing the car’s potential. With determination and perseverance, the young driver is poised to overcome challenges and establish himself as a formidable force in the world of Formula 1.
