Red Bull Racing’s Tsunoda Under Fire for Poor Performance, Marko Still Believes in Him

Red Bull Racing’s young Japanese driver, Yuki Tsunoda, is under intense scrutiny for failing to deliver up to expectations, despite the unwavering belief in his potential by Red Bull’s consultant, Helmut Marko. The disappointment in Tsunoda’s performance has raised doubts about his future in the team, with speculations of a mid-season replacement swirling around the paddock.

After Sergio Perez’s departure from Red Bull at the end of 2024, many anticipated Tsunoda to step up and fill his shoes. However, the team surprised everyone by choosing Liam Lawson over the young Japanese driver. Tsunoda eventually got promoted to the team at the Suzuka Grand Prix but has struggled to make an impact ever since.

With only 5 points to his name this season, Tsunoda’s lackluster qualifying performances have hindered his ability to score points in the races. This has contributed to Red Bull Racing falling behind in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing McLaren by 200 points. Marko expressed his concerns about Tsunoda’s progress, stating, “Yuki started well, but he hasn’t achieved the success we expected from him. He needs to translate his speed into points.”

Rumors about Tsunoda being replaced mid-season have been circulating, with Hadjar being touted as a potential replacement. However, Marko defended his driver, emphasizing Tsunoda’s talent and personal growth. Despite the criticisms, Marko remains hopeful that Tsunoda can turn things around and start scoring valuable points for the team.

As the spotlight intensifies on Tsunoda’s future at Red Bull Racing, all eyes are on the young driver to prove his worth and silence his critics on the track.
