Yuki Tsunoda’s Epic Struggle: 99 F1 Starts, No Podium – Will He Ever Triumph?

The curse of Formula 1 drivers with the most starts and no podiums continues to haunt the racing world. From Nico Hulkenberg finally breaking the streak at the 2025 British Grand Prix to veterans like Adrian Sutil, Pierluigi Martini, Philippe Alliot, Yuki Tsunoda, and Pedro Diniz, the quest for a coveted top-three finish remains unfulfilled for these talented individuals.

Nico Hulkenberg, after 239 starts, tasted the sweetness of success by clinching a podium at Silverstone, leaving behind the record he never wanted. On the other hand, Adrian Sutil, despite a commendable career, could never secure a podium in his 128 starts, solidifying his name in the history books. Pierluigi Martini’s underdog story with Minardi, Philippe Alliot’s consistent but luckless campaigns, and Yuki Tsunoda’s current struggles with Red Bull Racing Team all add to the dramatic narrative of perseverance and determination in Formula 1.

As we delve into the careers of these drivers, the highs and lows, the near misses, and the relentless pursuit of glory become apparent. Each one has a unique tale to tell, from Sutil’s valiant efforts to Martini’s unexpected leads in races. Philippe Alliot’s backmarker status and Yuki Tsunoda’s ongoing battle for a breakthrough podium encapsulate the essence of never giving up in the face of adversity.

The journey of Pedro Diniz, with 98 starts under his belt, showcases the fine line between success and obscurity in the fast-paced world of F1. Despite failing to secure a podium, Diniz’s resilience and commitment to the sport shine through, leaving a legacy that goes beyond mere statistics.

In a sport where every millisecond counts, these drivers remind us of the unforgiving nature of competition and the relentless pursuit of excellence. As the F1 season unfolds, one can’t help but wonder if fate will finally smile upon these drivers, granting them the elusive podium finish they so rightfully deserve.
