Yuki Tsunoda Stunned by Red Bull’s Shocking Demotion: What Went Wrong?

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, Yuki Tsunoda has revealed that he was blindsided by Red Bull’s decision to demote him for the upcoming 2026 Formula 1 season. The Japanese driver, who was thrust into the spotlight earlier this year to partner with Max Verstappen, faced an uphill battle that ultimately led to his downfall. After starting the 2025 season with the more lenient junior team, Tsunoda was suddenly called up to replace Liam Lawson, who was quickly deemed unsuitable for the main squad after just two races.

The pressure mounted as Tsunoda struggled to deliver, unable to support Verstappen in the high-stakes battle for the constructors’ championship. As whispers of his uncertain future circulated, it became crystal clear that Tsunoda would not be granted a full-time seat for the next season. Instead, he has been relegated to a role as test and reserve driver, while Lawson retains his position at Racing Bulls.

Reflecting on the shocking news, Tsunoda expressed his disbelief, stating, “I was told after the race in Qatar, but honestly, it didn’t feel real at first.” He had braced himself for the possibility of a demotion, yet he was still caught off guard by the abruptness of the announcement. “I heard that the decision might have been changed just before my briefing,” he added, illustrating the chaos surrounding his dismissal.

In a further blow to Tsunoda, rookie Isack Hadjar will be taking his place at Red Bull. Hadjar’s impressive performance, including a podium finish alongside Verstappen at the Dutch Grand Prix, has only served to emphasize Tsunoda’s shortcomings, as he has yet to secure a top-three finish in his five seasons in the sport.

Despite the crushing news, Tsunoda remains resilient. “There must be a lot of reasons behind it. But when they told me I don’t have a permanent seat next year, it wasn’t like the world collapsed,” he remarked, hinting at a glimmer of hope amidst disappointment.

As the dust settles on this shocking development, the motorsport community is left to ponder what led to Tsunoda’s unexpected fall from grace. The stakes have never been higher in F1, and this dramatic twist raises questions about the future of not just Tsunoda, but the entire Red Bull Racing team as they prepare for the upcoming season. Will Tsunoda bounce back, or is this the end of the road for the young driver? Only time will tell.
