Sergio Perez has faced significant pressure throughout the current 2024 F1 season. The team based in Milton Keynes has experienced a decline in performance, and Perez’s inability to score points in recent races has further compounded the issue. This has sparked speculation about his future with the Austrian team, and now there are claims that contracts hold little value at Red Bull.

Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 to address the team’s second driver concerns. However, his pace deteriorated rapidly towards the end of 2023 and has continued into 2024. Despite being given a multi-year contract extension, there is now a performance clause that could potentially terminate his contract and end his struggles at Milton Keynes.

Yuki Tsunoda has observed Perez’s situation and stated that contracts mean little at Red Bull. He referred to previous instances where the team has manipulated contracts, suggesting that Perez may be at risk of losing his seat in the coming weeks.

While Perez has fallen towards the back of the grid, the RB duo has consistently scored points and shown similar pace to the 34-year-old. Tsunoda has used his own impressive performances to assert his position within the Red Bull hierarchy and make a case for his promotion to the senior team.

Despite Tsunoda’s optimism, he acknowledged that other factors could influence the decision-making process. However, he believes his performances have been strong enough to justify a promotion and demonstrate his skills in the team’s dominant challenger.

Meanwhile, Perez finds himself fighting to retain his seat at Milton Keynes. This creates an intriguing situation within Red Bull, which could potentially impact the team’s performance in the constructor’s battle as they once again grapple with second-driver troubles.
