Yuki Tsunoda reveals shocking Red Bull contract ‘ban’: will he race in F1 again?

Yuki Tsunoda’s Future in F1 Hangs in the Balance After Red Bull Contract Controversy

In a stunning revelation that has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, Yuki Tsunoda has opened up about the restrictions imposed by his Red Bull contract, which effectively barred him from pursuing opportunities with other teams as he eyes a spot on the 2026 grid. The Japanese sensation’s tenure with Red Bull has been marred by inconsistent performances, leading to rampant speculation regarding his future as the team confirmed their lineup for 2026, opting to elevate Isack Hadjar over Tsunoda.

As the dust settles on a tumultuous season, Tsunoda has been relegated to a test and reserve driver role, with no option to join the sister team, AlphaTauri, further tightening the noose around his aspirations. “The thing is, my contract was there, so I couldn’t do much,” Tsunoda candidly admitted, revealing that despite external interest—details of which remain shrouded in mystery—he was bound by the terms of his deal. “I had a couple of interests from externally, but the contract didn’t really allow me to talk with them, or whatever.”

For Tsunoda, the Red Bull family has been his sanctuary, a place where he has honed his skills and grown as a driver. “That’s why I was fully focused on the Red Bull seat. Anyway, it was my priority for the last few years,” he stated, reflecting on his commitment to the team.

However, the crushing reality of his situation hit hard just after the Qatar race when he learned he would not be competing in 2026. “It’s tough,” Tsunoda revealed, grappling with the emotional fallout of being sidelined. “It was right after the race from Helmut. Surprisingly, I’m OK. Not OK, but I’m surviving OK.” This poignant admission underscores the gravity of his predicament, as he prepares for what may very well be his final race weekend in the F1 circus.

With the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix looming, Tsunoda is still in denial about the finality of his situation. “Probably I’m not recognising that it’s going to be the last race for this and next year. Maybe I will feel it more after Abu Dhabi.” As the clock ticks down to what could be a bittersweet farewell, fans and pundits alike are left wondering what the future holds for the talented driver who has become a fixture in the paddock.

As the F1 world watches with bated breath, Tsunoda’s story is a stark reminder of the cutthroat nature of the sport, where contracts can dictate not just a driver’s career path, but their very future. As he faces an uncertain road ahead, one thing is clear: Yuki Tsunoda is not ready to give up on his dreams just yet. The saga continues.
