Yuki Tsunoda’s Future in Jeopardy: A Shocking Potential Move to Alpine?

In a twist that could reshape the landscape of Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda finds himself at a career crossroads, with whispers of a possible switch to Alpine igniting fervor among fans and analysts alike. The 25-year-old Japanese driver has been a staple within the Red Bull family since his F1 debut, but after a rocky season, questions loom over his tenure with the team.

Despite earning a coveted seat at Red Bull for the Japanese Grand Prix this year, Tsunoda’s performance has been underwhelming, netting only seven points since his promotion. This disappointing tally has led to speculation about his long-term prospects, especially as the pressure mounts in the high-stakes world of Formula 1 racing.

Former F1 star Juan Pablo Montoya has thrown Tsunoda’s name into the ring as a potential replacement for the struggling Franco Colapinto at Alpine. Montoya remarked, “That’s the million-dollar question. Franco Colapinto has got it tough at the moment… He was really fast, but Gasly is very, very good. The question is, do Alpine want to keep him? And if not, who do you bring? Is it better to get rid of Colapinto and bring a guy like Yuki?” This bold suggestion underscores the shifting dynamics and relentless competition among drivers in the paddock.

Colapinto, currently languishing at the bottom of the standings without a single point in 2025, has faced scrutiny for his performance, which has seen him share the cellar with Jack Doohan, the driver he replaced. His missteps, including a crash during the crucial 2026 Pirelli tyre test, have cost the team dearly, leading to calls for a change in the driver lineup.

Meanwhile, Tsunoda’s struggles have not gone unnoticed. Sitting below fellow Racing Bulls talents Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson in the standings paints a grim picture of his current form. However, the buzz surrounding Tsunoda suggests that teams are still aware of his past prowess, making him a compelling candidate for a move across the grid in 2026.

As Alpine weighs its options, the clock is ticking for both Tsunoda and Colapinto. Will Alpine take the gamble on Tsunoda’s undeniable potential, or will they stick with the status quo? The future of these drivers hangs in the balance, and fans will be watching closely as the 2026 season approaches. The stakes couldn’t be higher in this cutthroat arena where every point counts and every decision could change the fate of a racing career.
