Yuki Tsunoda defends Max Verstappen for criticism following incident with Lando Norris.

Yuki Tsunoda believed that Max Verstappen did not make any sudden movements while braking in the incident with Lando Norris at the Red Bull Ring. The crash between the two drivers during the Austrian GP has sparked controversy and divided opinions among F1 personalities and drivers. Tsunoda, who is a member of Red Bull’s sister team, RB, shared his perspective on the incident.

According to Tsunoda, the crash should be seen as a normal occurrence in racing rather than something deliberate or dangerous. He argued that Verstappen’s actions were not intentional as he did not move under braking, a topic that often sparks debate in the world of racing. Tsunoda explained that such incidents are common and do not necessarily indicate reckless driving. He emphasized that incidents like these are part of the competitive nature of F1.

Furthermore, Tsunoda viewed Verstappen’s strategy as a way to put pressure on his competitors and defend his position. This tactic makes it challenging for opponents to overtake and forces them to take more risks, which can sometimes result in contact between cars.

When asked about the crash, Kevin Magnussen shared his thoughts in an interview. He pointed out that in racing series like IndyCar and Sportscars, there is a different approach to managing on-track incidents. Magnussen advocated for allowing drivers to resolve conflicts naturally during races, similar to how it is handled in those series. He highlighted that Verstappen had already suffered the consequences by puncturing his own tire in the collision. In F1, drivers are closely monitored by race officials who penalize them for rule violations, unlike in other racing series where drivers have more freedom to race aggressively without immediate penalties.

Magnussen further explained that racing in some series is more straightforward and clear-cut. The rules are well-defined, enabling drivers to understand what they can and cannot do on the track. This allows drivers to focus more on racing and less on concerns about penalties.

In conclusion, Kevin Magnussen believed that the discussion surrounding Max Verstappen’s crash should come to an end, and attention should shift towards the upcoming races in Silverstone. Fans are eagerly anticipating another thrilling and exciting weekend of racing, similar to the one witnessed in Austria.
