Yuki Tsunoda baffled by slow pace, vows to conquer Red Bull dominance in F1 battle

Yuki Tsunoda Left Scratching His Head as Red Bull Pace Eludes Him in F1 Spanish GP Practice Sessions

Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda found himself at a loss for words after struggling to keep up with the pace set by his Red Bull team during the Friday practice sessions at the Spanish Grand Prix. Despite a smooth performance without any apparent issues, Tsunoda couldn’t explain why he was falling behind.
Tsunoda voiced his concerns over the team radio, mentioning issues with sliding at both axles, which led him to finish six tenths slower than his teammate Max Verstappen during the soft-tyre qualifying simulations. The GPS data revealed a significant lack of speed through certain turns compared to Verstappen.
Expressing his frustration, Tsunoda said, “To be honest, I just don’t have any idea why I am slow.” He acknowledged making progress throughout the sessions but was still unable to match the expected performance levels. The young driver faced a challenging night ahead, aiming to identify solutions to improve his pace.

On the other hand, Max Verstappen described his Friday as “OK,” noting a slight improvement in the team’s overall performance. While he felt more comfortable with the car compared to previous weekends, Verstappen emphasized the need for further enhancements to achieve the desired level of performance.
The Spanish Grand Prix promises to be an exhilarating event as Red Bull Racing works to fine-tune their performance and address the challenges faced by Yuki Tsunoda in catching up to the pace set by his teammate.
