In a seismic shift that could redefine NASCAR’s media strategy, FOX is gearing up to launch a 24/7 NASCAR channel on its ad-supported streaming platform, Tubi. The move, which comes amidst significant transformations in how audiences consume sports content, signals FOX’s renewed commitment to NASCAR, offering fans a blend of nostalgia and the latest updates.

The streaming revolution: NASCAR’s new trajectory

NASCAR’s $7.7 billion deal with Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery shook the foundation of traditional race coverage. As more fans pivot to streaming platforms, the sport’s leadership aims to attract a broader, younger audience. However, this transition has left many long-time fans disgruntled, especially with FOX scaling back its NASCAR presence, including the reduction of live race coverage and the closure of Race Hub.

But just as critics began to question FOX’s commitment to NASCAR, the network has unveiled a project that could win over fans. The upcoming NASCAR channel on Tubi promises a treasure trove of content: from classic races to behind-the-scenes documentaries and video podcasts, catering to both seasoned fans and newcomers.

A nostalgic throwback: FOX’s golden era in NASCAR coverage

For decades, FOX Sports played a pivotal role in NASCAR’s growth, especially through the iconic Speed Channel. Dubbed the “Netflix of motorsports” during its heyday, the Speed Channel was a one-stop shop for everything NASCAR, offering live coverage, analysis, and exclusive shows. However, the channel’s demise following the launch of FS1 and FS2 left a void that fans have long lamented.

Recognizing this gap, FOX seems intent on recreating that magic on Tubi, providing a free platform brimming with the content fans crave.

Tubi: The dark horse of streaming

Acquired by FOX Corporation in 2020 for $440 million, Tubi has emerged as a key player in the free-streaming space. Initially building its library with under-the-radar titles, Tubi has steadily expanded its catalog, thanks to partnerships like its 2019 deal with NBCUniversal, which brought over 400 series and movies to the platform.

Now, with the NASCAR channel, Tubi is poised to deliver a unique offering that could draw racing enthusiasts who’ve been yearning for a dedicated motorsports hub. The ad-supported nature of Tubi ensures that viewers can enjoy content without any subscription fees, making it accessible to all.

What fans can expect from NASCAR on Tubi

  • Classic races: Relive some of NASCAR’s most iconic moments, from Dale Earnhardt’s legendary wins to thrilling championship-deciding showdowns.
  • Documentaries: Explore the stories behind the drivers, teams, and tracks that shaped the sport’s history.
  • Replays of 2025 races: Missed a live race? Tubi’s channel will offer delayed replays, ensuring fans stay up to date.
  • Video podcasts and analysis: Exclusive interviews and expert insights will keep fans engaged with the latest NASCAR news.

FOX’s strategic pivot and NASCAR’s future

FOX’s initiative to reinvigorate its NASCAR coverage aligns with the sport’s broader push to adapt to modern viewing habits. By blending nostalgia with innovation, the network aims to bridge the gap between traditional fans and the streaming-savvy younger generation.

Adam Stern from Sports Business Journal highlighted the significance of this move, posting on X:
“NASCAR to launch a free ad-supported channel on Fox-owned Tubi later this month, offering documentaries, classic races, replays, and more.”

This bold venture could mark the beginning of a new era for NASCAR media, where accessibility and content diversity reign supreme.
