The 48H Chrono stage of the 2025 Dakar has concluded, with Yazeed Al Rajhi emerging victorious. However, the new leader of the overall classification is Henk Lategan.

The drivers faced 947km of timed racing over two days. Al Rajhi (Overdrive Racing/Toyota) was the fastest, being the only one to finish in under 11 hours. He beat Lategan (Toyota) by 4m16s, despite receiving a two-minute penalty for exceeding speed limits.

For the same reason, Nasser Al-Attiyah (The Dacia Sundriders) received a four-minute penalty—otherwise, he would have been second. Juan Cruz Yacopini and Rokas Baciuska, both driving Overdrive Racing Toyotas, completed the top five for the stage.

Some top contenders lost significant time, such as Carlos Sainz (Ford M-Sport) and Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers Giniel de Villiers and Saood Variawa, who collided in the dust and suffered extensive car damage.

In the overall classification, Lategan is the new leader, with a 4m45s advantage over Al Rajhi, who now has a total of four minutes in penalties. Al-Attiyah is third, followed by Toby Price (Overdrive Racing/Toyota). Mattias Ekström (Ford M-Sport) is in fifth.
