Yangwang U9 falha recorde de Nürburgring

Breaking lap records at Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany seems to be increasingly becoming an obsession for supercar brands; however, not all manage to achieve this feat.

The latest brand to challenge the German circuit was BYD with the Yangwang U9, a model equipped with four electric motors that produce a combined power of 1305 hp and a torque of 1680 Nm, aiming to achieve the title of “King of Electric Vehicles.”

The high power of the Yangwang U9 proved sufficient for BYD’s supercar to complete its best lap on the German circuit in 7m17.9s, but it was not enough to beat the best time set by the Rimac Nevera, which stands at 7m05.298s. Ahead of the Yangwang U9 is also the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with a time of 7m07.55s.

However, the record for the fastest lap by a production model still belongs to the hybrid supercar from Mercedes-Benz, the AMG One, with a time of 6m29.090s.

Despite everything, the Yangwang U9 set a new record for production Chinese cars, after intense work by BYD engineers who spent six months trying to find the best tuning for the supercar to achieve the record at Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

To achieve its best lap in 7m17.9s, the Yangwang U9 reached a top speed of only 275 km/h, far from the 391 km/h that the 100% electric model has already achieved.
