Yangwang, the brand of sports and luxury cars owned by BYD, announced the introduction of a new item in the options list for the electric hypercar U9: a green paint that celebrates the achievements of the model in the “Green Hell,” the nickname for the legendary Nordschleife track at the German Nürburgring circuit. This new color joins a list that previously had only three options: purple, red, and gray. In the domestic market, the U9 is sold for the equivalent of €218,000, but customers interested in this new shade of green will have to add €42,500 to the bill—and pay an additional €25,500 if they also choose the special commemorative decoration developed for the interior.
It should be noted that last September, the Xtreme version of the U9 completed a lap of the Nordschleife in 6m59s157, becoming the first 100% electric car to achieve a time under seven minutes! During its time in Germany, the U9 Xtreme, with one electric motor per wheel and over 3000 hp, also visited the ATP test track in Papenburg, where it achieved another remarkable feat: reaching a top speed of 496.22 km/h, a new world record for a production car. According to information released by the Chinese site CnEVPost, by the end of November, 182 units of this electric hypercar had been sold.
