Yamaha retorna às corridas de automóveis com novo empreendimento na Fórmula E da Lola.

Yamaha, a renowned name in the world of motorcycle racing, will make its return to the international car racing scene next season. This marks its comeback since participating in Formula 1 in 1997. Yamaha will partner with Lola in their new Formula E project, as announced before the Tokyo E-Prix. The collaboration will see Yamaha acting as a technical partner to Lola. Yamaha’s choice of Lola, one of the most innovative manufacturers in the world, is a testament to the exceptional team Lola has built. The focus of this project is centered on technological development, an area in which Lola has invested significantly. The 350 kW electric powertrain used by Yamaha in Formula E is seen as an innovative technology with potential applications in various high-level international automotive events in the future.

Yamaha’s decision to venture into Formula E is in line with its broader efforts in sustainability. The company is actively involved in researching and developing sustainable technologies. By participating as a technical partner in Formula E, Yamaha aims to acquire advanced energy management technologies. They share Lola’s philosophy of sustainable motorsport and are happy to form this partnership.

Lola, known for its expertise in chassis design and aerodynamics, has made significant hires as they prepare for their return to motorsport. Mark Preston and Keith Smout, who played crucial roles at Techeetah, a Formula E championship-winning team, have joined Lola. Preston, now the motorsport director at Lola, emphasizes the importance of this project in creating an electrified platform with a focus on software. This platform will serve as the foundation for Lola’s broader plans in shaping the future of automotive technology.

The Lola-Yamaha alliance is set to provide a powertrain for an existing Formula E team.
