Xpeng Aeroht, a subsidiary of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Motors, has announced that it has received over 2000 pre-orders for the Land Aircraft Carrier, a model that consists of land and air modules, following the first public flight of the air module that took place at the Zhuhai Air Show in China.
The Land Aircraft Carrier combines two types of vehicles that can be separated and combined autonomously. The land module has a capacity for 4 to 5 passengers and is equipped with an extended-range electric propulsion system to recharge the air module multiple times.
The vehicle features a three-axle design and six wheels for all-wheel drive 6×6, with rear steering wheels, offering, according to the brand, good load capacity and off-road capabilities.
Additionally, the land module can house and transport the air module, which offers space for two occupants, vertical takeoff and landing, and features an electric propulsion system. The batteries of the air module can be recharged from 30 to 80% in 18 minutes.
During the demonstration flight, the aerial module of the Land Aircraft Carrier performed its flight autonomously, demonstrating the ability for linear acceleration at low altitude and precision landing. Xpeng AeroHT announced that the aerial module is equipped with two flight modes, manual and automatic, and that it only takes three hours to learn how to control the aircraft.
