Xpeng Motors and VW announced this Monday that they have agreed to expand their partnership to make their ultrafast electric vehicle charging networks available in China to models from both brands.
With this agreement, drivers of electric models from Xpeng and VW in China will have access to 20,000 ultrafast charging points in 420 cities across the country.
Additionally, the two brands will also develop a network of fast chargers that will operate under a brand created by both companies.
It is worth noting that Xpeng and VW announced a partnership in 2023, at which time the German automaker acquired 4.99% of Xpeng for about $700 million (around €676 million), with the aim of jointly launching two electric models from the VW brand by 2026.
Furthermore, VW later revealed that it developed a new architecture for smart and electric vehicles with Xpeng, which, according to the German manufacturer, will help produce more affordable models in the Chinese market.
