The first electric car from the mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi is proving to be a real success in China, with over 130,000 units already sold.
The SU7 is a sedan based on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, designed to support electrical architectures of 400 volts and 800 volts, as well as transmission systems with one or two motors.
Equipped with electric motors developed in-house by Xiaomi, capable of providing quick acceleration speeds, the SU7 comes in two versions: the entry-level version with one electric motor installed on the rear axle, producing 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque, powered by a 73.6 kWh battery. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h, with a range of 628 km to 668 km in the CLTC cycle.
The success of the SU7 has led Xiaomi to increase production in China several times, after the brand took 275 days, or 9 months, to exceed its production target of 100,000 units set for the end of 2024.
Celebrating one year since the first official presentation of the SU7, Xiaomi has announced that it will begin the second phase of its car manufacturing plant in 2025, aiming to further increase production volume. In addition, the brand plans to launch two new models in the upcoming year, the SU7 Ultra and the YU7, which will expand Xiaomi’s range of 100% electric models.
