Aviation specialist Textron recently announced a special edition of the Beechcraft King Air to commemorate the aircraft’s 60th anniversary. Since its first flight in 1964, the Beechcraft King Air has been utilized by operators, military personnel, and civilians worldwide for their utility and business needs. With over 7,800 units produced over the past six decades, the Beechcraft King Air has earned the title of “best-selling business turboprop family in the world.” This remarkable aircraft has accumulated a total of 64 million flight hours.

The King Air family currently consists of three models: the 260, 360, and 360ER. Powered by Pratt & Whitney engines generating 850 shaft horsepower, the 260 model can reach top speeds of 574 kph (357 mph). The special edition version, named Crimson, is available for the 260 and 360 models. While the mechanical and performance aspects remain unchanged, the Crimson edition features a unique exterior design and special features.

The exterior of the Crimson edition is adorned with a crimson paint scheme, paying homage to the legendary Beechcraft customers and operators throughout the aircraft’s history. Silver and black accents provide a striking contrast. The iconic Beechcraft “B” logo is prominently displayed on the tail, a symbol that has long represented these aircraft.

Textron has also made modifications to the access point and interior of the plane. The boarding step now features hidden fasteners for a sleeker appearance and is painted in graphite silver. Inside the aircraft, historical Beechcraft elements can be found throughout. The lower sidewalls and aft cabin bulkhead panel display the “B” logo. The seats are upholstered in dark leather with Alcantara accent panels and crimson piping. The charcoal carpeting is enhanced with crimson arcs.

While the price of the Beechcraft King Air Crimson has not been disclosed, Textron has already begun accepting orders for this special edition. The aircraft is expected to take to the skies in 2025.
