The award that the World Car Awards annually bestow upon a prominent personality in the automotive industry has this year honored Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, who has been named the World Personality of the Year.
Stella Li has thus become the first woman to win this award, succeeding Adrian Newey, who won in 2024, having been elected by 96 automotive journalists representing 30 countries.
The BYD Vice President Li won the award after a year of great success for BYD. In addition to excellent sales performance in China, the company’s new energy vehicles have gained a significant market share in countries like Brazil and Mexico. BYD has also seen strong expansion in strategic regions such as Europe, achieving important production milestones.
It is worth noting that in November 2024, the company reached the impressive milestone of producing 10 million new energy vehicles – an unprecedented achievement in the industry. Currently, BYD employs one million people worldwide, including over 110,000 professionals dedicated to research and development.
“Stella Li impressed the World Car Awards jury panel with her exceptional work as a key figure in BYD’s continued global growth. Her vision and determination have made BYD an important player in the automotive landscape in a short period of time, and her influence extends not only within BYD but throughout the automotive industry,” said Jens Meiners, Emeritus President of the World Car Awards.
