Carlos Sainz Jr. has dropped a bombshell on Williams, suggesting that the team’s ambitious set-up changes might have backfired, making them slower on the track. The Spanish driver expressed concerns about the team’s performance, hinting at a possible return to their previous set-up to regain their competitive edge.

Williams, known for its relentless pursuit of improvement, introduced a series of upgrades for the FW47 at the Belgian Grand Prix. However, the gamble seemed to have failed as both Sainz and his teammate Alex Albon struggled to maintain their early pace in the practice sessions.

While Albon remained optimistic about the situation, highlighting the opportunity to explore different setups, Sainz was more critical, admitting that the team may have “made ourselves slow” in search of speed. The pressure is on Williams to rectify their mistakes before qualifying to secure a spot in the top 10.

Sainz’s frank assessment of Williams’ performance has sent shockwaves through the paddock, raising questions about the team’s strategy moving forward. With the competition heating up in the F1 2025 season, Williams cannot afford to make any more missteps if they want to stay competitive.

As the team scrambles to find solutions overnight, all eyes will be on Williams during the upcoming sessions to see if they can bounce back from this setback. Will they be able to unlock their true potential and challenge the frontrunners, or is this the beginning of a downward spiral for the once-promising team?

Stay tuned for more updates as the drama unfolds at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Williams will have to fight tooth and nail to prove their critics wrong and reclaim their position among the elite teams in Formula 1.
