Williams and Haas’ Formula 1 cars for the 2024 season hit the track in Bahrain.

Williams and Haas’ Formula 1 cars for the 2024 season hit the track in Bahrain.

Haas, on the other hand, has conducted an initial test drive of their VF-24 at Silverstone, with Nico Hulkenberg at the wheel. Meanwhile, Kevin Magnussen had his inaugural experience behind the controls of his 2024 Formula 1 vehicle in Bahrain.

In contrast, Williams made a strategic decision to unveil the FW46 in Bahrain rather than Silverstone, breaking from tradition. Team boss James Vowles explained that this move was a result of weighing the options between a virtual track test and being physically present at Silverstone. Vowles stated, “I would much prefer to dedicate time to the virtual track test, film it, and skip the shakedown in Bahrain.”

Vowles further explained the reasoning behind this decision, stating that Silverstone has had both positive and negative experiences in the past. Unpredictable weather conditions and equipment mishaps have hindered progress during previous runs. Therefore, conducting a comprehensive virtual track test in Bahrain and saving the filming day for later in the year was deemed more beneficial.

From the available footage, it appears that Logan Sargeant was the first Williams driver to test the new car. The car bearing the number 2, which corresponds to Sargeant’s number, was observed exiting the garage.

On the other hand, Magnussen finally had the opportunity to complete his first 200km in the Haas VF-24 after patiently waiting since the car’s launch. And with that, the engine revs increase as he embarks on his first laps in the VF24.
