He is well known to fans of Netflix’s “Drive to Survive,” where he offers detailed analysis of the progress of each season. Will Buxton, a key member of the F1TV presenting team, recently made an appearance on the Red Flags Podcast, sharing his extensive behind-the-scenes experience in Formula 1 through a series of quick questions. With a career of over ten years in automotive journalism, having contributed to Speed and NBC Sports before joining F1TV, Buxton’s expertise is highly respected. He is also known to viewers of Netflix’s “Drive to Survive,” where he provides detailed analysis of each season’s events.

A notable moment in Buxton’s career involved his criticism of Sergio Perez’s performance at the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix, suggesting that Perez seemed inexperienced after collisions with Esteban Ocon and Sergey Sirotkin. These comments led to a private confrontation with Perez after the series aired. Buxton openly shared his opinions on the drivers, noting that Lance Stroll is the least enthusiastic in interviews, in contrast to Carlos Sainz, who is full of enthusiasm. Initially, Daniel Ricciardo would have been Buxton’s choice as the most engaging interviewee, if not for his difficult start to the 2024 season.

Despite being only 25 years old, Lance Stroll has shown the resilience of an experienced veteran with 146 starts in Grand Prix. His entry into F1 in 2017 with Williams made him the second youngest driver in the sport, behind only Max Verstappen. Stroll has achieved three podiums, with the most recent being at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. This victory came after a series of fortuitous events, including a pit-stop error and a punctured tire that affected George Russell, allowing Stroll to secure the podium. Another notable result for Stroll was a third place in an unpredictable race in Italy, won by Pierre Gasly.

Stroll’s career has been subject to scrutiny, with divided opinions on his potential in the sport. Eddie Jordan, former F1 team boss, expressed uncertainty about Lawrence Stroll’s continued leadership in the team. Similarly, journalist Joe Saward raised doubts about Lance Stroll’s speed and motivation to win races, sparking a continuous debate about his skills and future in Formula 1.
