Will Brown Faces Elimination in High-Stakes Battle for NASCAR Cup Qualification

Prepare for High Stakes: One Racer to Miss Cut for NASCAR Cup Race in Chicago

In a jaw-dropping turn of events in the world of NASCAR, the upcoming Cup race at the Chicago Street Course will witness a rare occurrence – a driver failing to qualify. With a total of 41 entries vying for a spot on the grid, one contender will face the heart-wrenching fate of not making it to the main event.

The lineup for the race includes the 36 full-time chartered teams, along with five open entries fiercely competing for the final four coveted positions. The slowest among these challengers will be left out in the cold, marking the first DNQ (did not qualify) since the season opener at the Daytona 500.

Let’s delve into the profiles of the five open entries battling for a chance to shine on the Chicago Street Course:

– Will Brown, representing Kaulig Racing, may be an unfamiliar name to many NASCAR fans, but the Australian Supercars champion is a force to be reckoned with. Leading the 2025 championship, Brown stepped in to replace Shane van Gisbergen on the Red Bull Triple Eight team and boasts one previous Cup start at Sonoma.

– Austin Hill, driving for Richard Childress Racing, brings a wealth of experience from the NASCAR Xfinity Series. With multiple wins under his belt, Hill is no stranger to the pressure of high-stakes racing and has shown remarkable skills on road and street courses.

– Josh Bilicki, part of DGM Racing, stands out as the most experienced Cup driver among the five contenders. With 103 starts in the Cup Series, Bilicki is a seasoned racer with a knack for navigating the twists and turns of road courses.

– Corey Heim, racing for TRICON Garage Toyota as a fourth entry for 23XI, is a rising star dominating the NASCAR Truck Series. With an impressive track record in the 2025 season, Heim is poised to make his mark in the Cup race despite his first-time experience at the Chicago Street Course.

– Katherine Legge, representing Live Fast Motorsports, adds a touch of diversity to the lineup with her extensive background in IMSA, Indy 500, DTM, WEC, and Formula E. A skilled road racer, Legge is determined to secure her spot in the Cup Series after a challenging NASCAR journey.

As the tension mounts and the competition heats up, only one driver will fall short of qualifying for the NASCAR Cup race in Chicago. Stay tuned as these contenders battle it out for a chance at victory on the demanding street circuit.
